Trick-or-Treat

Hi everyone! I've been so busy lately with 6th grade homework. The wolves are doing great and already have their winter coats. We're trying to put up fencing soon to give our wolves some more room. Hopefully it will be done within the next year or so. We may then have room to take in other wolves later on. Soon we'll have platforms for them to climb on, thanks to the boy scouts who are willing to construct them. We just had Wolf Awareness Day on Saturday. It went well until it downpoured. On the 31st we will be having Howloween with The Wolves. It's just like a full moon tour, but you can wear costumes! Sorry, it's for adults only. You can still come to the Sanctuary on Saturday and Sunday for tours at noon. Hope to see you there. I'll try writing back as soon as I can. See ya, Kyla from Kid's Wolf Talk!

Hi everyone, I'm so glad that it's May. Sorry I haven't been writing, but I have been very busy with school, dance, and getting ready for a talent show. School is almost out and then we have summer! I am getting out on the 3rd of June. The wolves are doing well and most of the males have just been neutered. We brushed some of them to help them get rid of their winter coats, especially since the heat is coming. Tioga seemed to like it at first, but then he started to try and eat the brush. We also brushed Glacier, Casper, Chipper, Niksa, and Kojak. The wolves have been staying out of the sun and under their sheds instead. In the summer, we always have to fill their water buckets more often. They still look forward to their meat though. Pretty soon, there's going to be a lot of activities going on around the sanctuary. We have additional weekday tours, so check our calendar if you are interested in joining one of them. You may do so as long as it doesn't say "private tour". The cats are doing fine, too.The Music and Arts with the Wolves event is on June 2oth. There will be a number of activities for kids, including face painting, feather scent identification, and fur identification. I fecently saved 7 toads out of the holes on the hill last weekend. The holes are so that we can put in more fencing. Soon, we'll be able to have tours up there, and you will be able to meet Billy and Galahad. I can't wait for summer so that I can spend more time with the wolves. I hope that you are as excited as I am. See ya, Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk : )

February 22nd, 2009

Hi everyone,
The wolves are doing fine. Recently we have neutered almost the entire male population in our "big pack". Froto actually jumped over a fence into another enclosure in order to avoid being darted. I heard it was quite amazing to see him jump that high! When it was safe and sound, he jumped back over and joined his family. I guess we will have to try again another day with him. Yesterday, all the wolves were very happy to get fresh meat scraps from Laudermilch's (a butcher in Annville). They were so excited because they haven't gotten it in two weeks. Tioga's pack were jumping all around. They would run in a circle and then jump 5 feet in the air!
The cats are doing well also. We got a small dog house donated a couple of weeks ago, and they've been using it to keep warm, to sleep in, and to stay dry when it rains. All of them could fit in it-easily! They've also been sneaking bits of meat scraps from the buckets while the tour is going on! All of them have been growing rapidly over the past 2 weeks. My friend Katie and I just found out last week that Lilly is a boy! We now call him Lil' Lou. That's all for now. See ya, Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk : )
