Hi, my name is Kyla
I'm 10 years old. I've been volunteering at the Wolf Sanctuary with my mom since October 2006. As a volunteer I have assisted on tours by giving out treats to the wolves, reminded my mom to tell all the good stories, helped the volunteers clean out the wolves' water buckets, helped take care of the cats and kittens on the farm, and in general, been a "gofor" (you know, go for this, and go for that). I have learned so much about wolves during my time here that I thought I would like to share some of what I know. I'd also like to make myself available to answer any questions that you might have, with the help of the staff at the sanctuary. The picture you see by my profile is Hope, a pup born in December, 2007. Currently, she is not on the tour; however, we "hope" to have her available to the public by some time this summer. She is a beauty! Well, that's all for now. Hope to hear your thoughts and questions soon. Kyla, from Kids Wolf Talk

This is going to be cool. You have the neatest hobby. How many wolves are there? The pictures look like you have all kinds. How do you get them?
Thanks for being the first to look at my blog! You've asked some really good questions. Right now we have 49 wolves, including 9 pups. We have gray, arctic tundra, and eastern timber wolves. We've gotten many of our wolves from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, who has confiscated them from their owners for numerous reasons. We also have a number of wolves who were born at the sanctuary. Hopefully someday you can come and visit them all. See ya, Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk :)
Hi Kyla. How often do you have to feed the wolves and what do you feed them?
Thanks for stopping in! Well, we feed our wolves every other day. We feed our wolves high protein dog food, which we get from a local food bank. We also get deer meat from various places during hunting season. Somtimes we get a full deer that got shot from hunters or got hit by a car. See ya, Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk :)
what is the oldest wolf's name and how old is it? What kind is it and what color? Do they have thick fur? I guess you can tell I'm very interested in wolves.
I must say,you ARE very interested in wolves. Our oldest wolf is Smokey. She's a gray wolf and she is 13 years old. Smokey is mostly gray because of her age. When she was a pup,she was all black. All wolves have three layers of fur. Their winter coat gives them extra protection against the harsh weather. See ya, Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk :)
Hi Kyla! It's me, Bethany! How are the wolves doing? How are you doing? How is Casper?
Hi Bethany, the wolves are doing very well. They're hanging around underneath their sheds and in the brush because of how hot it is. When we get there in the morning they start howling because they think they're going to get treats. Casper, our arctic tundra wolf, is happy as always. Thanks for asking about me, I'm doing well. Hey Kyla. I've been away on vacation and thought I'd say Hey! I saw on the web page that you had a big event this past weekend. How did it go? Do you have any new wolves since we last wrote?
You are so lucky that you got to go on vacation! Hope you had a good time there. Our big event was a huge success! There were so many things to do there for the kids. We had wolf origami, wolf identification, and my grandma was face painting. Today,we put one of our female pups(Hope)in with Glacier. You keep me busy and I like that. You've always asked me really good questions all of the times that you wrote to me. See ya,Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk:)
Hey it's me! You put a female with Glacier? Wow, he MUST be happy!!! What's the female's name? Tell me IF you get another pup!

Hi Kyla,
I didn't know that you could put a puppy wolf in with an older wolf. Do they like each other? Does the older wolf take care of the puppy even if it isn't related? How old is the puppy? I guess you can tell, I like to ask questions so I can learn more.
Hi Bethany! The female's name is Hope. To tell you the truth, Glacier isn't as happy as you think. He actually seems to be a little jealous of Hope. A couple of times Glacier growled at Hope and nipped her on the ear. By the way, if we get another pup I'll be sure to tell you. See ya, Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk :)
Hi Top,
You can put almost any male and female wolf together and have them get along. You can't put two males or two females together though if they aren't in the same family. Hope is now 7 months old. She is trying hard to get Glacier to like her by showing submission (rolling over on her back). Hopefully he will realize that she is not a threat and will keep him good company. See ya, Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk :)
