December 27th
I hope your holiday has been a happy one so far. The wolves are very happy now that the cold weather is here and they are stuffed full of deer meat. We had many generous donations of meat this year. Soon there may be some puppies born, but we are not sure when. Bundle up (don't forget your warm boots and mittens), and come see the wolves in action. Thanks for stopping in. November
Winter is surely on its way. Our wolves are already wearing their winter coats and are much more playful. They romp, run, and wrestle with one another as they enjoy the cooler temperatures. They are also putting on some weight since it is hunting season and so they are getting lots of deer parts and deer meat. Come and visit and check it out for yourself. You don't want to miss it! October
Hi everyone, did you happen to go to Cabella's Kids' Fest last week on Saturday or Sunday? It was really fun. There was so much to do. You could fish for Catfish, get your face painted (my Nana was face painting), watch hilarious animal shows, pretend you're shooting birds (for free), learn about hunting and different kinds of animals, look at deer antlers, and of course, talk to the volunteers of the Wolf Sanctuary who were there to advertise. You could have come talk to me about my blog and/or get brochures and word searches. You could also have donated to help fund our sanctuary. Sorry we missed you, if you didn't make it, but hopefully, you will come and visit us soon. Don't forget, the October 25th Wolf Awareness Day has lots planned for everyone, especially kids. There will be face painting, wolf scent identification, wolf tours all day, food for purchase, many cool things to buy in our gift shop, and possibly some other activities too. This is an event that lasts from 11am until 7pm. Cost is $20 per adult. Children under 12 are free. Hope to see you there. Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk. : )

July
Just wanted you to know that we have made a few changes at the sanctuary. Hope, our only female pup, is now Glacier's new roomate. Glacier is not as excited as we hoped he would be, but he is coming around. Hope is very happy to have a big enclosure and is taking advantage of it by running around and exploring it. Churchill is also in his new home, behind the main pack. He had to be separated from his pack because he was being picked on too much. He is still by himself, but soon will be joined with a new pack, if all goes well. Keep your fingers crossed! That's all for now. See ya, Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk. :)

Music & Art with the Wolves - June 21st
Just wanted to remind you that we have a very special event this Saturday, June 21st from 11am-9pm at the Wolf Sanctuary. In addition to listening to some great music, and helping your moms and dads buy artwork, you can have your face painted, identify wolf packs by scent, and make orgami. If you'd like, you may bring your own dog treats (no raw hide) and share them with the wolves. Hope to see you then! See ya, Kyla from Kids Wolf Talk :)

My First Post
I'm 10 years old. I've been volunteering at the Wolf Sanctuary with my mom since October 2006. As a volunteer I have assisted on tours by giving out treats to the wolves, reminded my mom to tell all the good stories, helped the volunteers clean out the wolves' water buckets, helped take care of the cats and kittens on the farm, and in general, been a "gofor" (you know, go for this, and go for that). I have learned so much about wolves during my time here that I thought I would like to share some of what I know. I'd also like to make myself available to answer any questions that you might have, with the help of the staff at the sanctuary. The picture you see by my profile is Hope, a pup born in December, 2007. Currently, she is not on the tour; however, we "hope" to have her available to the public by some time this summer. She is a beauty! Well, that's all for now. Hope to hear your thoughts and questions soon. Kyla, from Kids Wolf Talk

Wolf Sanctuary of PA
In the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch country, quietly secured on 22 acres of natural woodland, you will find the home of the Speedwell Wolves. For over 20 years the Darlington Family has offered refuge to Wolves who have found themselves without a place in the natural world. It has been over a hundred years since the last wild Wolf was known to exist in Pennsylvania.
Originally created as an educational facility, the Sanctuary has allowed the Wolves, as nearly as possible to associate as a pack, choose their mates and raise their offspring. The Wolves of Speedwell hold a unique position as Ambassadors to the wild. It has been said that “the best wolf habitat resides in the human heart.” Perhaps it is also that the best habitat for our own wildness resides in the heart of the Wolf.
The Sanctuary currently provides food, shelter and veterinary care for over forty Wolves with no government or corporate assistance. Only, by your continued support and interest do the Wolves thrive.
